Seeing Through the Eyes of a Child
Try to practice seeing the world through the eyes of a child. If you're lucky enough to have a small child around, ask them what they think about certain things. When you go out and meet people, ask a child what they thought of the person. Often times their answers will be profoundly simple and very accurate. Children tend to take people and things at face value and as adults we become very jaded and cynical as time goes by.
If you don't have any children handy, remember the things that gave you pleasure and wonderment as a child. Try to view the world through open eyes that aren't clouded by fear or prejudice. As a child, you were open to all experiences and people; as you grew older you developed definite likes and dislikes about people, places and things. Throw that to the wind, even if only for one day.
When we lose our ability to find wonder in an inch worm crawling on a leaf or the miraculous beauty of a rainbow after a storm, a little part of us dies. It also means being accepting of the people and situations around yourself. Change the things that you are within your power to change and accept the rest of the world with the ease of a child.
Now that you've read this piece, go out and find something wonderful in your day today!
